The not so common …House of commons!!

Hey loves,

Hope you guys are doing superbly well.

Food is one thing which makes my soul happy and last week was one of the happy souls week.

So I went to this place called House of Commons which is located in heart of the capital, Connaught Place. As British as the name of the restaurant sounds, the entire look and ambiance of this restaurant has been kept extremely vintage .

Situated in outer circle of Connaught Place, House of Commons is on the first floor and it was not tough for me to locate it amidst the sea of restaurants.  Thankfully , there is parking facility available right in front of this joint .

The Décor :

The first thing that you see as you enter this eating house, is The name”House of Commons” written big and bright right in front of you reminding you of old world charm of the English Era. This space has been beautiful built with subtle but stunning architecture taking inspiration from United Kingdom’s Parliamentary House. This Gastro pub allows comfortable seating space to approx 60 to 70 people on the house in one go and what really takes your heart are the karaoke sessions happening more than often here.

For your tongue :

The food menu offers a wide palette range varying from Indian to International fusion cuisines. Variety of Beer, Whiskey, Cocktails and Mocktails catch your attention as you look at the Drinks menu .

What I ate:

Ok so, this is my favorite section.

Why? Because it allows me to eat the most tasty food available on this planet and then talk about it too.

So to start with I was presented with three starters.

Palak Patta chaat : This one looked really tasty. I couldn’t wait but just gulped the slice of it without waiting. And trust me, it was really crispy with some tangy flavors of Indian chutneys. The palak patta chaat is topped with Sev and that is just so mouthful. The best thing about this starter; It is served at room temperature so you better don’t worry about it getting cold as you sip your drink.

Bhatti Da Kukkad : Made with nothing less 32 spices this one is definitely a must have for a chicken lover. The good part, even with so many rich spices being used, this dish is still nice to your tongue and your stomach. In one portion, you get really big 4 pieces of chicken(with bones)  served with freshly cut onions and mint chutney .

Beijing Chicken : A twist given to your regular Chinese chilly chicken, Beijing chicken is there to stay on your taste buds for quiet some time. A very differently flavored chicken which might not suit the ones who don’t like to experiment.

Drinks : I tried Tropical Sling which is basically made out watermelon, Peach , Mint and Lime. You will love it during peak summers. Extra added sugar syrup made this drink little too sweet to handle. I was also served with HOC Macdonald Windsor which is one of their signature drinks. This Vodka based drink had flavors of Peach Schapps, Pineapple, Blue curacao and orange ice. This particular cocktails is really Royal and lived up to the name.

The main course : It gets tough to arrive at the main course after eating so much of starters but .. I don’t mind it at all. There is always a corner of my stomach which is empty all the time for proper main course.

So, for the main course I called for Lal Maas and Himachali Chana, accompanied with Tawa roti.

The Non vegetarian Lal Maas which actually comes from the valley of Rajasthan, looked next to perfect. The gravy was not too thick and had a very authentic fragrance to it.

I loved Himachali chana . It is slightly sweet to taste and also had really smalls chunks of cottage cheese in it. The gravy was thick but good enough to be eaten with roti. The chanas were perfectly boiled and soft, just how it should be.

Well that was my food journey at The House of Commons in Connaught Place New Delhi.  I am sure by now i have teased your taste buds quiet a lot and it will only be fair if you i leave you here with some food shots taken at House of Commons

TalkSassy Recommends ???

If you plan to just chill without really digging a hole in your pocket, Then a big YES !!! Vegetarian cuisines tasted heavenly. Good to see that the restaurant is paying attention to their vegetarian delicacies too. Also, I have to mention that the washrooms at the house of commons are kept really neat and clean. It shows that the management takes good care of the hygiene which definitely gets them the brownie points . Another feather in their cap are the karaoke sessions. If you are one of those who love to sing their lungs out then …House of Commons is the place to be !!!
